The man accused of murdering Matthew 'Tik' Tester at M&S in Walton has appeared in court.

Shaan Mir, 26, of Arlington Lodge in Weybridge, appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Monday (April 26), police said.

He spoke to confirm his details with the judge, and was remanded in custody.

Mir was previously charged in relation to the murder of Matthew ‘Tik’ Tester, 49, and the attempted murder of another man, also in his 40s, following the incident in Walton on April 22.

As the Surrey Comet reported previously, emergency services including an air ambulance rushed to the scene amid reports of a car being driven into a group of people.

Paramedics treated Tester on arrival, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and is expected to recover.

In the aftermath of his death, Tester's family paid tribute to him as a "much-loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to so many."

Fundraisers set up for his relatives online have raised tens of thousands of pounds in days, including over £14,000 raised by members of the scootering community in which Tester was an active participant.

Mir is next due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, July 27.
