Letter to the Editor: Traffic light delays must be sorted out

First published in Letters to the Editor

Having spent another 40 minutes in a queue at Malden Rushett I have a question: "Is anyone doing anything intelligent about these lights and this junction?"

Having lived with this over the years I assume the answer is no.

Chessington World of Adventures and the local authority need to step up and sort it out.

You pay you road tax and fuel tax and repair tax and expect the Government to make your roads nice and with no traffic.

We can all dream

I thought they were supposed to be finally widening the crossroads this autumn? Or again has this been stopped so they Governemnt can let off another corporate off its corporation tax bill.

This junction is an embarrassment, particularly so close to the M25. Something needs to be done - I thought they were putting in a roundabout at one point? I've waited 20 minutes leaving Epsom before turning around and driving round through Horton/ Chessington, and approaching from the CWOA side to join the motorway. Unbelievably, it's quicker!

Cyclist lady says...

They will start work on it in the autumn when Chessington World closes for the winter. Not possible to do it while it is heavily used by park goers. The cycle forum saw plans 10 years ago with two lanes each way and cycle lane. If they then link the cycle lane to Epsom, Leatherhead and Hook even better, but that is too much too hope. At least the potholes at the junction will go.
