Katherine Hatch, gymnast at Epsom Gymnastics and Trampolining Club found success at the Washindi Trampolining Finals on the 16th April. The competition was held in Crowthorne, Dorchester. This consisted of a compulsory routine and a voluntary routine which had to be performed multiple times. Katherine scored an impressive 8.7 8.6 8.7 in Set 1 and 8.7 8.8 8.7 in Set 2, leading to her victory.

Katherine has been training since she was 13 years old and has been competing in various competitions across the country. She wishes to carry on training and further develop her skills, hopefully leading to more successes in future. She feels that trampolining has enabled her to develop confidence as well as helping out with her asthma. Doing regular exercise helps you maintain a healthy weight, which may reduce symptoms of asthma. Asthma limits the amount of oxygen in the blood, but trampoline workouts can improve your VO2 max. This is the measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can use during exercise.

‘I enjoy trampolining because it makes me feel free. It helps me relieve the stresses of everyday life, and I feel motivated to reaching my full potential’. Katherine aspires to study Sport and Exercise Science in the future at university, and she has gained a lot of notable experience through competitions which will surely help her achieve her goals.

Congratulations to everyone that took part in the Washindi Trampolining Finals.
