Corinthian Casuals have signed former QPR striker Leroy Griffiths in time for him to play in Saturday's vital FA Trophy game at Carshalton.

Griffiths, who joined QPR from Hampton & Richmond in 2001, has had spells with Farnborough, Margate, Fisher, Aldershot, Grays and more recently Havant & Waterlooville.

Casuals manager Brian Adamson said: "I had Leroy with me when I was reserve team manager of Banstead and then Corithinian Casuals 19 years ago. He was in dispute with Havant and has joined us on a short term basis because there are bound to be a lot of clubs interested in signing him. He can be a match winner for us.

"We have also signed defender Russell Banyard from Banstead Athletic, where his brother is the manager. Russell will also be involved in our Trophy match on Saturday."

Further good news for Casuals is that striker Luke Gay has returned to training after being out the whole season following a knee operation.

Casuals, who were at home to Whitstable in the league on Tuesday, were unable to play their away game with Cray Wanderers last Thursday as Cray's landlords Bromley had hired out their pitch for a five-a-side event!
