Sutton United boss Paul Doswell insists he will not be “doing a Jose Mourinho” tonight in the first leg of the Skrill South play-off semi-final.

United go to Dover Athletic missing three key men, but Doswell is remaining positive United will prevail if they stay true to the formula that took them to second in the table.

Louis John, Will Spetch and Jamie Slabber will not feature tonight, while Charlie Clough, Marvin Williams and Dale Binns came through Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Whitehawk unscathed.

Doswell also welcomes back Simon Downer, Jamie Taylor and Damian Scannell, who were rested for the trip to the south coast.

“We’re going into tonight in a positive mind frame, I will not be doing a Jose Mourinho and parking the bus, getting eight players behind the ball,” he said.

“We will play our normal game because that is what has served us well so far this season, so why change it?

“As long as we are in touch when they come to the Lane on Saturday, we know we have a chance.”

He added: “But there is so little between all the teams in the play-offs, we will need to be at our best.

“Funnily enough, Dover have been better away from home, but we cannot take that for granted tonight.”

The second leg kicks off at 3pm at Gander Green Lane on Saturday – pick up Friday’s Surrey Comet for a full preview – and, remember, away goals do not count double.
