Dons want to call the shots against Aldershot

AFC Wimbledon defender Warren Cummings says this weekend's League Two six-pointer against Aldershot will be a dog-fight.

The Shots come to Kingsmeadow propping up the table on goal difference from Barnet and Wycombe (all on 13 points), with the Dons just above on 17 points.

Home form has been the Shots' achilles heel having won just once in nine attempts, while their away form of two wins, two draws and four defeats is keeping them in touch with their fellow strugglers.

As for the Dons, they go into the game on the back of a demanding trip to Exeter City, sandwiched by two journies to York, as well as Monday night's FA Cup replay and extra time.

But Cummings is in positive mood. He said: "We have won two games in a row, which I don’t think we have done all season, and we can take that into Saturday to give us a lot of confidence.

"Yes, we've had a gruelling schedule, so it has been a difficult period but we have five days to recover and get ready for Aldershot.

"That's going to be a really difficult match because we’re both in a dog fight.

"But if we apply ourselves in terms of the work rate and football intelligence, then there is no reason why we cannot get another positive result."

Dons face Aldershot on Saturday, and then host Southend on Tuesday.
