This prize is awarded annually in memory of Rik Snowley, a Kingston based photographer and previous teacher at Kingston College who died in 2008.

Janis Brumwell, Chair of Governors at Kingston College and sister to Rik, selected the winner after careful consideration of the wonderful work on display by Level 3 Photography students at the Creative Industries Summer Shows.

Skye Newnham was selected as the winner. Skye, who describes her current style as experimental photography that pushes the boundaries in contemporary photography, developed her practice through combining methods of analogue and digital photography techniques as part of her Final Major project.

She says: “It has been great to win The Rik Snowley Photography prize; to receive recognition and to have my creative forms of photography generate interest is flattering.”

Skye has achieved triple Distinctions for her BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography and is progressing to HNC Photography at City of Westminster College next academic year.
