Many of the best chefs and bakers in the world are men, so it’s no surprise that at a local boys comprehensive Southborough High School, cookery and baking lessons are taken very seriously.
In the lead up to Christmas, students across all year groups have been working hard on their baking skills, preparing either fruit Christmas cakes or Christmas themed cup-cakes in order to enter into the school’s annual Christmas cake competition.
Suffice to say, the competition, which was generously sponsored by local business Surbiton Sugarcraft, was tough to judge as all the students did such a fabulous job with their cakes, suggesting too that we have quite a number of future chefs who could give winning ‘Bake Off’ contestants, not to mention Paul Hollywood, a run for their money.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
Christmas Cup Cakes: 1st Faheem Chugtai, 2nd Daniel Nott, 3rd Alfie Barnett.
Christmas Cakes: 1st Rabishana Rabindran, 2nd Danny Hearn, 3rd Alex Barker.
