Armed robbers wearing masks have raided Santander bank in Tooting High Road, according to Wandsworth police.
The incident took place just after 10am and it is understood that no shots were fired.
However the London Ambulance Srevice have yet to confirm if anyone was hurt in the incident.
One witness Victoria Hamilton wrote on Twitter: "Just witnessed a bank robbery at Santander, Tooting. Three masked black men, one with a gun. Threatened to shoot. No one hurt Scary!"
The area around the bank has been cordoned off while forensic experts trawl the scene for evidence.
It is also understood the robbers escaped but it is not known at present if they made away with any money from the bank.
Police have confirmed the robbery took place and a spokesman said officers are still down at the scene.
