Students at the Howard of Effingham performed their production of Sister Act to standing ovations last week in The Theatre, Leatherhead.
The stage waa filled with performers aged 11 to 18 who came together to tell the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a nightclub singer who is forced to go into hiding in a convent after witnessing a murder.
Josie Smith “captivated the audience” in the lead role, and was supported by Zak Muggleton, as Sweaty Eddie, Hannah Barker as Mother Superior and Catrina Gardham who played the shy Sister Mary Robert.
Rhys Wallis played gangster Curtis, supported by his three followers Henry Moodie, Matt Strutton and Tom Walker.
Tom McGachie played the “warm, yet mischievous” Monsignor O’Hara.
