Taking advantage of the road closures by Prudential RideLondon on Sunday, residents of Manorgate Road in Kingston held their third annual street party.

They were joined by people from Carlisle Close and Wolverton avenue to enjoy food, games for children, a tombola and two live bands.

Prizes for the tombola were donated by residents as well as local businesses, in order to raise money for community efforts.

Emma Rutherford, of Manorgate and Carlisle Residents Association, said: “Residents are coming together to take on street projects such as gardening the communal street flower beds, traffic slowing and enabling the children of the street to play on the road at closed events.

“The support and feedback from the street has been overwhelmingly positive and we have been supported by local councillors who have helped fund our gardening initiatives. The road is prettier, the residents happier and we love our neighbours.

“The rain held off and everyone had a great day and the opportunity to be proud of the work we have done this year to make our roads attractive again.”
