Kingston and Surbiton MP James Berry is calling on Kingston Council and the Mayor of London to install automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras along the A3.
Mr Berry said burglars who target homes in Surbiton and New Malden are able to escape along the A3 untraced.
He added: βIt is fantastic that Kingston has the lowest crime rate in London, but the police need our help.
"Burglars are targeting Kingston because they know that the A3 is not covered by ANPR cameras. We need to plug that gap.
βI am calling on the council and the Mayor of London to fund ANPR cameras in Kingston.β
