With just two months to go until The Big Weekend, preparations for the Olympic Road Cycling Road Races are well under way.

Giant TV screens, 'have a go' sports taster sessions, musicians, jugglers, balloon modellers and more will be on offer across Leatherhead and Dorking to make the Big Weekend truly memorable.

The free family event is being held on July 28 and 29 and is being organised by the Arts Alive team and the Dorking and Leatherhead Town Management Partnership.

In Dorking you will find an array of theatre groups, artists and musicians lining the High Street from 10am on both days.

In Meadowbank there will be a giant TV screen in place so you can watch all the live BBC coverage.

The area will become home to 'Sportszone' from 2pm to 6pm, where free taster sessions of a variety of Olympic sports including football, hockey, martial arts and fencing will be on offer.

Dorking Halls will host a craft fair with more than 30 exhibitors and in Leatherhead there will be a chance to picnic in the park at Red House Gardens.

Spinning, zumba classes and a bouncy castle will also be on offer.

Mole Valley District Council’s Strategic Director, Laura Taylor said "We recognise that hosting the London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling will bring some challenges to the District.

"The Big Weekend is about residents and visitors being given the opportunity to join in the community spirit, have fun and celebrate this fantastic Olympic event."
