Age Concern Epsom and Ewell have been awarded grant funding from the Dementia Friendly Surrey Innovation Fund to set up a Dementia Befriending Scheme.

The charity currently provides volunteer befrienders to over 90 lonely older people in the borough and will now be able to offer this service to people and carers with memory problems.

Age Concern Epsom's Chief Officer Olivia Edwards said " We are so so pleased to get this funding as we are increasingly receiving calls from people desperate for company and who have some form of dementia. This funding means we can provide our volunteers with full support and training enhance the befriending experience"

If you have an hour or two to spare and would be interested in becoming a volunteer befriender, please call Olivia on 01372 732457 for more information.
