A Croydon College fine arts student has had a competition winning painting commissioned at a new urban village in Purley Way.
The competition run by Barratt Homes, was won by 21-year-old first year student Lenny Mpagi for a painting inspired by the thriving borough.
Lenny was invited along with friends and family to the New South Quarter project, where his painting was unveiled and Mayor Graham Bass presented the £200 commissioning prize.
After months of working on the paper, Lenny said: "I couldn’t believe it when I won, I really didn't expect it. To see it on the wall makes me really proud."
Mark Bailey, Managing Director for Barratt Kent, said: "Lenny’s painting was selected as it took into consideration the past, present and bright future of Croydon, meeting the brief perfectly."
