This little bundle of feathers was spotted stretching its wings for the first time near the Surbiton filter beds.
The baby sparrow took its first uncertain flight along Portsmouth Road on Saturday evening, August 13.
According to the RSPB, the house sparrow suffered a 71 per cent decline in its English population between 1977 and 2008.
However, the bird charity estimates there are still between 2.1m and 3.7m breeding pairs in the UK.
Plans for 60 floating homes, a marina, residential moorings and a restaurant on the filter beds also earmark part of the site as a nature reserve.
