A jeweller in Surbiton has been hit for the second time in 10 months by smash and grab raiders.

Robbers smashed the window of FP Turner and Sons, in Victoria Road, this lunchtime and escaped in a Mercedes.

The jewellers has been trading in Victoria Road for more than 180 years and was the victim of another smash and grab robbery last December.

FP Turner declined to comment on the raid.

A Kingston police spokesman said officers were called at about 12.30pm today to reports of a smash and grab.

She said: "At this early stage it is believed that two men approached the premises before smashing a glass window and making off with a small quantity of goods.

"A third person was seen driving the suspects away in a dark coloured Mercedes."

Officers from Kingston police's burglary squad are investigating.

The jeweller has been targeted before.

On December 16 last year robbers escaped with "minimal" jewellery, according to police.

Officers on patrol in Surbiton that day tried to chase the gang, who escaped in a black BMW.

The next day, sledgehammer-wielding robbers attacked a New Malden jewellers in Burlington Road and stole £6,000- £7,000-worth of stock.
