Students in Kingston, Surbiton, Tolworth, New Malden and Chessington are starting to learn whether all their hard work has paid off as they pick up their A-Level results today.

Coombe Sixth Form, the first school to provide a breakdown of its results to the Surrey Comet this morning, has claimed to have broken all records.

The school said 67.6 percent of its pupils had achieved an A-C result, an improvement on the 50 percent last year.

A total of 29 students achieved the new A* grade, and the overall pass rate was 99.1 percent.

Director of Sixth Form, Dave Peters, said: "This result reflects our determination to support all our students and to prepare them to face the future confidently.

"We are particularly pleased at the way in which the students have improved on their AS results."

The Surrey Comet has asked each school to provide its results for each grade A* to U.
