Police are appealing for information after a 29-year-old man was allegedly chased through Tolworth by six men brandishing weapons.
Officers said the attack, at about 5.40pm on July 18, was thought to be connected to a dispute over a party held the night before.
Witnesses saw a blue Peugeot in nearby roads around the time of the incident, in which no one was injured.
Residents of Thornhill Road reacted with surprise to the news of the incident.
Mable Hardwick, who has lived in the road for 37 years, said: “It is just shock really because it is a pretty quiet road. You don’t really see a neighbour because it is a very quiet road.”
If you have information contact Detective Constable Tovey at Kingston police on 020 8649 4909.
* A 20-year-old man has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared before Kingston magistrates on Tuesday and was remanded in custody.
