Staff and parents at Surbiton Children’s Centre are celebrating after Ofsted gave it an outstanding rating following a two-day inspection last month.
The inspectors’ report, released on Monday, June 14, said the 118 children at the Alpha Road centre received “a fantastic introduction to learning” and developed “outstanding personal qualities”.
The inspectors wrote: “Children make outstanding progress because no opportunity is missed to extend their learning through well-targeted questioning.
“As a result, children’s speaking and listening skills are fully developed, and the children leave the school with high attainment in literacy and numeracy.”
Head of centre Penny Walton said: “I’m delighted for the staff and parents. I think the inspectors really were very impressed by the start we give young children in the nursery, and the activities we offer inside and outdoors.
“Parents are very pleased and by and large are very positive about the school and that Ofsted have recognised what they feel.”
