Surbiton High School is keeping its fingers crossed for three for its girls, who will take the stage in the live TV final of Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday, June 5, as part of gymnastics superstars Spelbound.

The tumbling trio helped the 15-strong troupe reach the final, after they coming top of the public vote in Monday’s semi-final, despite Katie, 17, currently taking her A-levels, and Abi, 16, about to take 10 GCSE exams. Amy, 12, has almost finished her first year at senior school.

The group are now firm favourites to win the competition, with William Hill quoting them 5/6 odds, ahead of body-popper Tobias Mead, who finished behind the gymnasts, and boyband Connected.

Judge Piers Morgan said: “I don’t know how that came over at home on the TV, but I can tell you in the room that was one of the most extraordinary routines you could imagine.

“The big question we always ask at this stage, particularly when it goes live, is could we imagine you gracing the Royal Variety Show – and in your case, absolutely.”

The Surbiton girls are part of the school’s gifted and talented programme, which helps pupils balance their academic work with training commitments.

Principal Ann Haydon said: “We are delighted for our three girls. To get to the final of Britain’s Got Talent is a massive achievement and reflects the hard work and training that Spelbound put into their performance.

“Anyone who saw their semi-final appearance could see how long they have needed to rehearse to get it so good.

“We’re probably biased at Surbiton High School, but we think they would be ideal winners of the competition and wish them the very best of luck. We hope the British public agrees with us that Spelbound would be perfect winners.”

The final will start at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 5 on ITV.
