A 19-year-old woman was subjected to a terrifying sexual assault at gunpoint, after accepting a lift from strangers outside Oceana nightclub in Kingston.

The teenager was waiting for a bus home when two men pulled up in a red car and offered her a lift home.

After dropping off his passenger in Twickenham, the driver took the woman to a car park in Hounslow's Bell Road where he produced a handgun and seriously sexually assaulted her.

The woman, who lives near Chiswick, had been partying with friends at the Clarence Street club's student night, until the early hours of Thursday, July 15.

She was waiting for the N65 bus outside Kingston station when the men, who are not believed to have been in the club, pulled up and began chatting at 2.30am.

They drove a red, two-door coupe with rear spoiler and black leather seats. Both men are about 20.

The driver is Asian with short, dark-brown hair, spiked forward, and brown eyes. The passenger is mixed race and wore thin-rimmed glasses.

After the attack, the driver sped off leaving the woman to walk to Hounslow town centre, where she flagged down a police car.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Sapphire Unit, which deals specifically with sex assaults, are trawling masses of CCTV to find the make of the car.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Steve O'Connor said the woman, who works part-time as a shop assistant, is badly traumatised.

He said: "She was waiting at the bus stop near Oceana, which is where lots of kids gather on their way home.

"She was approached by the driver of the vehicle, spoken to, offered a lift, and unfortunately she accepted. She is quite traumatised by the offence.

"She will eventually make a full recovery but it has affected her very badly mentally."

Oceana manager Steve Fleury said: "We're doing everything we can to help police find whoever did this because someone like this needs to be locked up.

"We do work with a local minicab service to make sure our customers get home safely, and urge people not to get into stranger's cars."
