Constructive alternatives confer trust, security, liberty, and prosperity. There are numerous positive examples, from post-war Europe, South Africa, parts of India, and between Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda and Burundi.
When ordinary people are revealed as such to each other, conflict can be tackled and ideas of slaughter evaporated.
To declare war on the flimsiest excuse, but with a concerted public relations initiative, could set us back generations.
