From Dr Ruth Dalton SIR. I would like to add my comments regarding the Blue Bridge event on June 27.

I was part of the local residents' organising team, and would like to put in a word of praise for Suzanne West, who works for the council's environmental services department.

I feel she deserves special mention for attending all of our evening meetings, and taking on most of the detailed planning required for that scale of public event.

And everybody had great fun. Wildlife and local history groups, Thames Water and Kingston University were all present. There was children's pavement art, raft making and racing, head massage even the Sea Scouts' amphibious vehicle, The Duck.

Deputy mayor Penny Shelton, Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock and Reverend Jim Bates were all present. Sadly, we didn't get to the planned evening finish point of barbecue, bar and bands, due to a sudden downpour, but we hope to be able to run the event again next year.

However, we will be running a Blue Bridge party benefit concert at St John's Church Hall in the autumn featuring all the local bands that didn't get a chance to play on June 27.

All are welcome and we hope to make next year's event even better.
