From Adrian L Mills SIR. It was great to read in the article Grab a radar gun and help stop speeding' (Comet, July 14) that something is being done to reduce speed on our roads.
For too long, motorists in the borough have ignored the speed limits. Hopefully, this scheme will change attitudes that speeding is an accepted crime.
I am confident it will make the roads safer, and give cyclists and pedestrians more confidence when using the roads.
ADRIAN L MILLS Garrick Close Walton From Erik Falck-Therkelsen SIR. The idea is, in principle good, however, it will only work if controlled by the police.
How would a volunteer be able to deal with a knife-wielding motorist, who realised he was being speed tested?
In general, and a point hinted at by the Government, is that any criminal activity, however small, will only be reduced by introducing zero tolerance.
