Kingston's future to be found in creative arts project

An exciting project using the creative arts, media and resident of Kingston will launch in March.

Our Kingston Our Future will remember the past, explore the present and imagine the future in a green project spanning two generations.

The project, launched by Artgym, in partnership with Transition Town Kingston (TTK) will ask 300 people to create an inspiring green vision for the future and then share it with the rest of the world.

Working alongside artists, film-makers and designers, all the ideas that residents create together will be used to broadcast the community’s vision for an environmentally-friendly place to live.

Hilary Gander, from TTK, said: “I’ve seen the work Artgym produce and it’s fantastic, these people can really pull the rabbit out of the hat.”

The events will be captured in a documentary, Kingston 2010 and beyond, directed by the award-winning documentary maker Maria Eduarda Andrade.

If you are aged between 19 and 25 or are over 55, you are invited to take part in one of the four half-day events.

The events will be held on Saturday, March 20, and Sunday, March 21, in Kingston’s All Saints Church from 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm.

Visit ourkingstonourfuture.org to get involved or email info@ourkingstonourfuture.org for posters to publicise the event.
