A chance penalty shoot-out could see New Malden footballer Stuart Collins swap his office job for a life of fame and fortune.

The 26-year-old sales and events manager was hailed winner of reality television programme Fash FC after winning a penalty shoot-out against two other players.

He was given a £35,000 Audi TT convertible and has already caught the attention of industry scouts.

But for now, Stuart plans to return to work at the BBC Good Food show in Richmond, and wait for the offers to come flooding in.

Stuart, from Alric Avenue, said: "It was quite a nerve-racking day and I never expected to win.

"There were loads of pretty boys on the team but I was just myself the players picked me to take the penalty, so it goes to show, the way you conduct yourself on and off the pitch does count.

"It was a massive commitment doing the show and was brilliant working with John Fashanu. He really knows the game and has already put me in touch with some clubs.

"I've been recognised a lot. It's real fever pitch out there."

The Fash FC goalie, who went to Richmond College, is waiting to see if he can appear in a second series.

The programme was hosted by former international football legend John Fashanu and shown on digital channel Bravo three times a week.

It started last October, with 5,000 athletes battling it out for a prized place in the Hendon District League, and followed the footballers' quest to reach the top.

Stuart supports Liverpool and has played for Kingston and District League, Kingstonian's Maori League and West Fulham and Vauxhall Conference League.

His favourite footballer is Alan Shearer.

He's a keen golfer and drinker, with an all-time desire to fly a plane, and seek revenge on his ex-girlfriend by becoming more famous than she would like to be.

Stuart was hailed man of the match at the end of March and won a training session with the South Africa national team at Queen's Park Rangers' training ground in London.

They invited him to watch a game against Australia the following day and later that week he was crowned captain.

Stuart added: "I got on the show through an advert and was lucky to get picked there are options open for me now."
