From Chris, Tresha and Trevor SIR. With reference to your article (Hospital's appaling' treatment of dying man, April 7) we felt it was time to write about our dad's experience in Kingston Hospital.

Dad died in April 2001, after being an inpatient for nine months.

During this time he was transferred to several wards, as well as being moved to Chertsey and Tolworth Hospitals. We kept a daily record of his progress.

During this time we had several concerns, a few of which are listed below: * Removal rather than reduction of oxygen on which he was dependent.

* Hygiene and cleanliness for an MRSA patient was lacking.

* Urine was leaking from a bag on to the floor.

* Medication, a bleeper and food was left out of reach.

He too was on Hamble ward, but by this time his medical condition had deteriorated to such a degree that the nursing staff found it difficult to provide all the care and attention he needed as an MRSA patient.

This is a resum of events leading to Dad's untimely death but unfortunately shows that after three years nothing has changed.

CHRIS, TRESHA AND TREVOR Douglas Road Tolworth Name and address supplied SIR. You ask for comments about palliative care at Kingston Hospital.

I have to say that my husband died there three years ago and I cannot speak too highly of the care he and I received on that day. I shall never forget the kindness and consideration from everyone at Kingston Hospital.
