It was kick-off time for Woodmansterne’s new £800,000 sports pavilion on Saturday.
The Mayor of Reigate and Banstead Richard Mantle cut a ribbon and then the teams who will use it swarmed in to make their first inspection of the new facilities.
A barbecue followed and then youth teams took to the pitch to take part in celebration football matches.
The pavilion, for use by Woodmansterne Sports Club, provides a new six-team changing room with disabled access plus officials changing facilities and toilets. The energy efficient block replaces the old, run-down building the club used to use.
The project was funded jointly by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council and the Football Foundation. A grant from the Football Foundation covered 49 per cent of the capital cost of the work with the council funding its half of the scheme through its pavilions improvement project.
