A man has been left with metal plates holding together his broken jaw after a man punched him to the ground in Tolworth on Tuesday, July 28.

Police are appealing for witnesses after inquiries and CCTV proved fruitless.

The man was walking home alone from a takeaway in Tolworth Broadway when the attack took place.

As he approached the United Reformed Church in Raeburn Avenue he spotted a group of three males and two females, one of which approached him and politely asked if he had any cigarettes.

When he replied he had not, one of the males punched him in the face.

He was subsequently admitted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting and so was unable to report the matter until August 2.

The suspect was described as a 6ft man, slim, with short black hair and a designer goatee beard.
