Environmentalist and Conservative Zac Goldsmith has ruled himself out of the next London Mayoral race saying he would rather represent Richmond Park as MP.
Current mayor Boris Johnson has been reported to have said he would not stand for the job again.
Speculation in a London newspaper last week suggested Mr Goldsmith, the Tories prospective parliamentary candidate for Richmond Park, might fill Mr Johnson’s shoes.
But the 34-year-old former editor of the Ecologist magazine said he was not interested in the role.
He said: “I hope Boris stands again. He’s a great Mayor and no, I don’t want his job.
“I’m flattered to be included, but there’s no chance. I want to represent Richmond Park.”
