Flood warnings have been issued in parts of south west London as Storm Ciarán is set to hit London. 

Yellow weather warnings for rain and wind have been issued in London until tomorrow (November 2) at 11:59pm.

Storm Ciarán is expected to hit London this evening (Wednesday), with warnings that most areas could see up to 30mm of rainfall.

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts in the south west London areas of Putney, Hampton, Thames Ditton and Teddington.

A flood alert has been issued for the Tidal Thames riverside from Putney Bridge to Teddington Weir.

A flood alert has also been issued for the River Thames from Hampton and Thames Ditton to Teddington, which could affect Hampton Wick and Kingston-upon-Thames.

What to do

Residents in affected areas are being advised to monitor local water levels and weather conditions whilst flood alerts are in place, and to act on their flood plans.

People are also advised to avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
