A man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being attacked in Epsom during the early hours of this morning (August 27).

The man was assaulted outside Lloyds Bank at the junction of High Street and Waterloo Road.

The incident occurred at some time between 4am and 5am.

A large group of people, around 12 to 15, were gathered in the area.

Police believe that the group's ages were between 18 to mid-20s.

After a lot of shouting, a man fell to the floor during the commotion.

The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Police are asking any witnesses to the assault or dashcam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Epsom in the early hours of Saturday, 27 August.

“Officers were called following reports of an assault at some point between 4am and 5am outside Lloyds Bank at the junction of High Street and Waterloo Road.

“A group of around 12 to 15 people were gathered aged between 18 to mid 20’s.

“Following a lot of shouting, a man in his 20’s was seen to fall to the ground.

“He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
