A couple who ran a drug running operation from Brixton into Surrey have been jailed for a total of 17 years.

Tyrone Jones, 28 and his girlfriend Patricia Slater, 27, both from the Brixton area were both found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

On Thursday, July 26 Jones was jailed for 12 years and Slater for 5. Three other people were jailed for the same charge.

Last November, officers from the Trident and Area Crime Command implemented a search warrant at Slater's address.

As officers entered the address, Jones was seen to throw drugs with a street value of £3,500 from a window of the address.

Their arrests followed a four-month operation undertaken by officers from the Met's Trident and Area Crime Command.

As the operation developed it was established that Jones was the main organiser of the operation while Slater assisted him - they recruited runners who would push their drugs in Surrey.

Sisco Lukuna, 22, Ian Mulgrew, 39 and Sandra McGowan, 28 were used to distribute the drugs.

Lukuna, from Brent was given two-years imprisonment, suspended for two-yeas. Mulgrew from Merstham, was sentenced to 20 months' imprisonment, suspended for two years. McGowan, also from Merstham was sentenced to 16 months' imprisonment, suspended for two years.

Detective Constable Dave Huzzey who led the investigation said: "This is an extremely good result that has seen a drug dealer receive a substantial custodial sentence for his role in running a 'county lines' drug dealing operation.

“Jones' accomplice, Patricia Slater, also received a substantial sentence for her involvement. I hope this result sends a strong message out to criminals who continue to deal drugs that they will feel the full force of the law through tough sentencing from the courts."
