Chessington World of Adventure is closed today due to health and safety concerns.

The area is experiencing low water pressure after a pipe burst locally. This has forced the Merlin company to close the Theme Park and Zoo today.

Tickets are being accepted at Thorpe Park and Legoland. Alternatively, ticket holders can re-validate their tickets to be used on another day.

One visitor commented on Facebook: "Just arrived at Chessington station only to be told Chessington has now closed. Travelled from Stoke to London for three days with Chessington planned for today. Hoping to do London dungeons instead now. Disappointed but still lots to do."

Earlier this morning, the theme park said that they would be opening at 11:00am but they will now close for the whole day.

They said: "We apologise we weren’t in a position with the information provided to us by Thames Water to make our decision sooner.

"We appreciate that this is frustrating and we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused by circumstances simply beyond our control.

"Concerning the welfare of our animals, our SEA LIFE centre, Sea Lion and Penguin Bay and otter enclosure are contained, and we are currently using bottled water to meet our other animals’ needs."

Thames Water is working to fix the issue as soon as possible. They are giving bottled water to residents at the Chessington Garden Centre.
