A visit by trainee police dogs to a Kingston Vale care home gave residents the opportunity to meet and pet the Met Police's canine companions.
Residents at Sherwood Grange care home in Robin Hood Lane were also given a talk about the dogs' training, and the types of dogs used for different tasks.
Home manager Rick Mayne said: “We are always looking to plan interesting and exciting activities for residents, and so many have a keen interest in animals and pets.
"We were delighted to be visited by the Met Police, and it was fantastic to see the smiles on everyone’s faces when the trainee police dogs arrived."
The dogs were led on a tour of the home, being taken to every room to ensure all the residents had the chance to meet them.
Mr Mayne said: “Activity based care is at the heart of everything we do here at Sherwood Grange, and we believe this special visit had real therapeutic benefits for residents, especially those living with dementia.
“You could see from residents’ reactions just how engaged and happy they were to get to play with and pet such lovely animals. We would like to say a big thank you to the Met Police and their dogs for such a fantastic afternoon.”
