There Your eyes, and possibly ears too, might not believe this but Lewisham has been revealed as the quietest borough in the capital.
There were just 458 noise complaints in Lewisham last year – 1.5 complaints for every 1,000 residents – out of the massive total of 143,105 complaints made throughout London’s 33 boroughs.
In comparison, residents in neighbouring borough Greenwich made 3,682 complaints about noise, an average of 11.5 complaints for every 1,000 people.
The capital's 8.5 million residents are most likely to complain about music, construction and commercial noise, the statistics from Cirrus Research reveal.
The loudest borough was Chelsea, home to the likes of JK Rowling, Robbie Williams and Bernie Ecclestone, where there 13,790 complaints, more than 3,000 ahead of runner-up Islington.
Figures from across south London show Wandsworth is our noisiest borough, with 13 complaints for every 1,000 locals, closely followed by Greenwich, Sutton and Bromley.
Bexley: 247,906 residents making 1109 complaints about music, people and machinery, Approximately 4.5 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Bromley: 309,300 residents complaining 2755 times mostly about neighbours, construction and commercial. Approximately 8.9 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Croydon: 363,378 residents complaining 2159 times mostly about musical and commercial noise. Approximately 5.9 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Greenwich: 274,803 residents making 3682 complaints about music, shouting and construction. Approximately 11.3 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Lewisham: 297,325 residents making 458 complaints mostly about neighbours, dogs and commercial. Approximately 1.5 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Kingston: 173,525 residents making 824 complaints, complaining about neighbours, construction and commercial. Approximately 4.7 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Merton: 199,693 residents making 1686 complaints about music, construction and machinery. Approximately 8.4 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Richmond: 193,600 residents facing 1,403 complaints moaning about construction, people and music. 7.2 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Sutton: 160,060 residents making 1602 complaints about neighbours, commercial and dogs. Approximately 10 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
Wandsworth: 310,520 residents making 3,977 complaints. Approximately 12.9 complaints for every 1,000 residents.
