A woman has been taken to a major trauma hospital after a crash that closed Old London Road and saw London's air ambulance called out.

Pictures show a car on the pavement outside the Natural Health shop having smashed into a parking sign at about 3pm.

Two men were treated at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 3.09pm today to reports of a road traffic collision at Old London Road, Kingston.

"We sent several of our resources to the scene including two ambulance crews, an incident response officer, our hazardous area response team and a single responder to the scene.

"We also dispatched London’s air ambulance. The first of our medics arrived at the scene in under three minutes.

"We treated two men at the scene and took them to a hospital in south west London.

"We treated a third patient, a woman, and took her as a priority to a major trauma centre in south west London."
