The former Top Gear trio have been spotted driving around Cobham in a bizarrely modified vintage Mercedes with gigantic wheels.

Former hosts of the popular driving show, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, were snapped driving up and down the High Street, apparently as part of their new Amazon Prime show, on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Clarkson was notoriously fired from the BBC in March last year after punching a Top Gear producer backstage.

Mr Hammond and Mr May followed him in leaving the BBC show, and were seen alongside Clarkson in the Mercedes.

Footage shot by an onlooker shows the trio driving along the High Street, and slowing down to speak to the person filming.

Mr Clarkson is heard saying: “Are you filming this car because it’s excellent?”

The onlooker replies the car is “certainly different”, before Clarkson says “exactly, he means brilliant”, before driving on.

A reboot of the Top Gear show, minus the famous trio, will now feature Chis Evans as lead host, along with Friends actor Matt LeBlanc and German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, amongst others.
