Love Kingston Day took place on Valentine's Day and is an annual fundraising day for the campaign it is named after to contribute to helping Kingston's residents.

The aim was to invite everyone who lives or works in the borough to get creative and raise money on February 14.

Events filled the weekend, with an all-day gig at the Fighting Cocks pub on Sunday, and an open day at Park Brew - a homegrown micro-brewery.

Sorrell Parsons, Love Kingston fund manager, said: "It was fantastic, we had sunny weather, lots of people come out and it was great. There were some really exciting activities.

"The Fighting Cocks gig was brilliant, fantastic local bands. They really got on board and the community came out.

"It was just great to see how much spirit we have in the community. I enjoyed all of it. I loved the gig, im a big music fan myself, so when people come together to sign and dance it's really great that we can have music from our community.

"We are continuing to build the fund for the future, so we are really making sure that we have community and charity funds well into the future."

Arts and science activities were put on for children at the Eden Walk Shopping Centre, with the help of Kingston University students, as well as raffles and give-aways at the Canbury Arms and Wych Elm over the weekend.

Continuing the love pledged have been made to carry on fundraising with cake sales, mufti days, business lunches and dinner parties - all in the name of Love Kingston.

Paul Pickhaver from Kingston Foodbank said: "Love Kingston Day itself has really helped to not just raise funds but also raise awareness of crisis issues locally and help people find meaningful and effective ways of responding.

"The generosity we have seen from all ages has been humbling and inspiring."
