A man was airlifted to hospital after being crushed by a lorry in West Molesey.

A spokesman from South East Coast Ambulance service (SECAmb) confirmed that the man was “crushed” by a reversing lorry at an industrial estate in Central Avenue at about 8.30am this morning.

An air ambulance from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust airlifted the man in his 40s, who is a worker at the site, from a nearby car park to St George’s Hospital in Tooting to be treated for rib and abdominal injuries.

The spokesman from SECAMB said the man was conscious and talking to police officers when he was airlifted.

A spokeswoman from Surrey Police said the man had "serious injuries which are not thought to be life threatening", and that an investigation was taking place and will be passed to the Health and Safety Executive.
