A Surbiton artist has been shortlisted for a wildlife artist of the year award.

Paul Fearn has made it to the final stages of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation's competition and will see his work displayed at London's Mall Galleries.

The winner of the £10,000 prize will be announced at the end of the month.

Mr Fearn, who works from the Fusion Arts studio in Eden Street, Kingston, is a self-taught painter and a conservationist.

He is currently experimenting with extreme light and shade using Indian ink, but has used pencils and oils in his work in the past.
