A woman in her 40s was allegedly sexually assaulted in Weybridge before a member of the public intervened.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place in Church Street opposite St James' Parish Church, just before midnight on Saturday, September 6.
Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses, including the man who intervened during the alleged assault, but are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity at the time.
Detective Constable Carly Humphreys said: "This incident occurred in a busy location on a Saturday night so passing motorists and pedestrians may well have seen something."
