More than 1,900 furious people have signed an online petition calling for an end to Heathrow’s easterly departure routes trial.

The airport has received a daily average of 350 complaints on days people have experienced extra noise due to the trials.

Heathrow is undertaking trials driven by the Government’s Future Airspace Strategy (FAS), with many southerly departure routes concentrated over East Molesey, West Molesey, Walton and Hersham, that are intended to continue until January 26, 2015.

Those affected have voiced their frustrations on a petition created by website TeddingtonTown.

Carol Horsley, of East Molesey, said: "The noise of the new permanent flight path is outrageous, starting at 7am and ending at 11pm. This is an invasion of my families peace."

Paul Seed, from Walton, said: "We moved from TW7 area to KT12 a year ago to escape the noise of aircraft. I accept we live in the vicinity of an airport so can expect a certain amount of noise but recently it has been constant and irritating.

"I have never been contacted by any 'body of authority' and only recently found out myself through searching our local forum and this website. I feel that this trial and has been conducted unfairly and behind our backs."

Laura Rossi, from West Molesey, said: "I have lived in West Molesey for over 20 years and this is the worst summer so far for air traffic noise. I do not want these routes to be changed."

A spokesman from Heathrow said modernising airspace was necessary to improve efficiency and give communities more predictable noise respite, and that feedback from these trials would be used to inform the airspace’s future design before a 2016 public consultation.

The spokesman said: "These are just temporary changes and no permanent changes to flight paths will be made before everyone has an opportunity to have their say on possible options for flight paths through a public consultation.

"Ultimately it will be for the Government to decide what changes will be made to UK airspace."
