Don’t be fooled by the assertion on their Twitter bio that “everyone hates us”.

Because if there’s one place indie rock band Tellison should feel loved it’s Kingston.

The group has been performing in the town since forming 11 years ago, and even recruited bassist Andrew Tickell, from Surbiton, after a show for Banquet Records.

Now they will return for a special performance at All Saints Church, where they will be supporting Brooklyn singer songwriter Kevin Devine on his UK tour.

Emanuel Ayvas, better known as the frontman of orchestral rock band Emanuel and the Fear, completes the line-up.

Stephen H Davidson, Tellison's guitarist and lead vocalist, says the band are no strangers to the Kingston music scene.

He says: “Banquet Records helped us learn how to be a band.

"We’ve got lots of friends in Kingston and there’s a vibrant music community.

“We grew up playing and seeing bands in Kingston. It was the first place it occurred to me that the people on stage are the same as the people in the audience.”

He has never been to All Saints Church before and says the band are excited to play in the historic venue: “I’ve seen photos and it looks incredible.

"There’s something magical about playing in these older spaces.”

Tellison have drawn favourable comparisons to the likes of REM and Bruce Springsteen, and have toured with Biffy Clyro, Mumford and Sons and Bombay Bicycle Club.

The band are known for their witty lyrics and anthemic sound, and their tracks Edith and Gallery have been used on Made in Chelsea and The Inbetweeners respectively.

The band are just putting the finishing touches to a new album.

Davidson says: “We haven’t been on tour for a year. This will be the first chance we’ve had to play loads of new songs.”
