As many as 1,000 blind or sight impaired people in Kingston could be missing out on a 50 percent reduction on their TV licence, writes Ben Naylor.
The Kingston Association for the Blind estimates there are more than 1,000 people in the area with sight loss. Only 20 people currently claim the £72.50 discount.
Live-in carers or family members are also covered.
Brian Gaff, who runs the Talking Newspaper service, said he received the benefit but added: “A lot of people think if they have partners they can't claim it.”
