Kingston’s iconic falling phone boxes will finally be repainted to cover over marks left by a Cath Kidston Christmas rebrand.
The Old London Road sculpture by Turner Prize nominated artist David Mach will get a new coat of red paint next week.
The Surrey Comet reported in January how Mr Mach considered legal action after the Cath Kidston-branded snowflake pattern left marks on his artwork, called ‘Out of Order’.
Town centre manager Kingstonfirst defended the move, saying the rebrand had allowed broken panels to be fixed, while more than 700,000 people discussed the subject on social media.
But it pledged to repaint the boxes after the Christmas period – and confirmed the work would take place next Tuesday, March 18.
