Kingston Council's highest paid 12 directors took home a total of £1.28m last year.

Chief executive Bruce McDonald was paid £178,341 in 2013, more than the Prime Minister’s £142,500.

Finance director Leigh Whitehouse, the second highest paid, earned £131,868.

Children’s services boss Nick Whitfield was not included, as he is part-paid by Richmond Council.

Plenty of savings to be made here then. Looks like 50% pay cuts across every "director" of a UK council would work out about right from these figures and compared to average earnings.
