Musicians and dancers tuned up for Kingston’s 80th annual performing arts festival.

But prizes, handed out by Kingston and Surbiton MP Edward Davey, were not limited to those who took the stage.

80-year-old Mavis Wilton was one of three veterans celebrated for their voluntary work at the festival last Saturday.

Miss Wilton, who also received an award for 40 years' service ten years ago, said she was delighted to receive this latest accolade: “I had no idea I was getting anything. It was quite a surprise.”
