The vice-chancellor of Kingston University sent coffee to protesters demonstrating today over pay.

Students and staff have picketed campuses in a University and College Union (UCU)-backed strike.

Vice-chancellor Julius Weinberg is meeting with staff to discuss their dispute.

Kingston UCU branch chairman Julian Wells said: “We have had a very strong picket at Knights Park and Penrhyn Road, and, I’m told, at Kingston Hill.

“We’re feeling that we have had a successful day.”
